Kathryn Chorney, Instructor

With strong interests in both science and art, Kathryn initially chose art school over medical school, but after several years realized her true calling was medical and scientific illustration. After earning her Master of Science in Biomedical Communications at the University of Toronto, Kathryn worked in the medical-legal, pharmaceutical, and patient-education fields as illustrator, animator, and art director, and also taught part-time at U of T. She joined the Sheridan full-time faculty in 2004, and since then has participated in the development of the new BAA curriculum, particularly Scientific Illustration. Kathryn’s current interests center on the visual communication of scientific ideas and relationships to human technological innovation, and on the integration of traditional and digital media. Kathryn is a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI).
