Prior to joining Sheridan in 2004, Ian was a full time professor in the Graphic Design program at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. Ian taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in typography, design drawing, computer studies and environmental graphics.
Ian also lectures on drawing as it relates to furniture design at North Bennet Street School in Boston, Ma., the oldest and one of the premier craft colleges in North America. In Canada Ian has taught in design faculties with Seneca College, Ryerson University and guest lectured at the University of Toronto. His research interests include design education and symbol communication. Current projects include completion of the Rangers War Memorial designed by his graduate students in Savannah Ga. and the design and fabrication of his series of ‘type cases’.
