Illustration at Sheridan College

Harvey Chan, Instructor

Harvey Chan was born in Hong Kong and at a young age moved to Canada, where he studied graphic design and illustration at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Harvey graduated in 1982 with more than just a passion for art; he developed a strong work ethic as well. “To do a good job I always give 200 percent; 100 for the client, the other 100 for me. That’s the only way to make it work”.

Harvey is a remarkably versatile artist with work ranging from realistic to conceptual with every imaginable variation along the way. He has illustrated many children’s books and has been short-listed for the Governor General’s Award twice in his prestigious career.

He is proud to have been featured on the cover of American Showcase 26, and to have his work appear internationally, popping up everywhere from advertising campaigns to packaging, and publications to corporate communications. In addition to illustration, Harvey somehow finds the time to draw, paint and sculpt, and even teach at the Toronto School of Art, the Ontario College of Art & Design, as well as Sheridan College.
